Dynamo Finish Another Succesful Season

Congratulations to the Houston Dynamo on another successful season! The Dynamo advanced to the 2011 MLS Cup Final and the city came alive with excitement. Even Mayor Annise Parker took part in the festivities! The Dynamo claimed the Eastern Conference Title against Kansas City on Nov 6 and lost 1-0 to the LA Galaxy on November 20 in their 3rd MLS Cup final appearance in six years.
Off the field, Greenstar and the Dynamo mixed purple and orange to create a green fan experience. As the Official Jersey Sponsor of the Dynamo, Greenstar provided recycling for over 300,000 fans throughout the 2011 season. Fans recycled over 15 tons of material, creating a significant environmental impact. In addition to recycling, Greenstar has also taken part to support several great causes and events this season.

At July home games, Greenstar will reward Houston Dynamo fans for their recycling efforts. In return for recycling, Greenstar will provide Dynamo fans with a special photo opportunity with the Dynamo Girls.
The unique photo opportunity gives fans the chance to take a picture with Dynamo props and Dynamo Girls. Fans are encouraged to write their recycled items on Greenstar's chalk board and display their accomplishments for the camera. In appreciation of their recycling efforts, Greenstar will also provide recycling fans with reusable shopping bags and removable Dynamo tattoos.

Houston Sports Park Grand Opening

The new Houston Amateur Sports Park has officially opened. The joint venture between the Dynamo and City of Houston includes seven fields. Houston Mayor Annise Parker and council members James Rodriguez and Wanda Adams were on hand for the ceremony.
"This facility takes us a huge leap forward. Once it's completely developed, it will be a premier facility in this region and will allow us to attract the kind of soccer tournaments that parents take their kids all over the state to participate in," said Mayor Parker.
Greenstar is a Founding Partner of the sports park and will handle all of the facility's recycling services. This is the official training facility for the Dynamo and home to all Academy activities. The fields will also be available for local teams to rent. The facility is located south of downtown near 288 S and Airport Rd.
Greenstar Night at the Dynamo Game

The Houston Dynamo defeated the New England Revolution on GREENstar Night, an Earth Day celebration. The game was an important victory for the Dynamo, who moved to second place in the Eastern Conference. It was also a victory for Greenstar, who gave fans the opportunity to experience the convenience of single stream recycling while winning free give-a-ways and Greenstar t-shirts.
At halftime of the match, Greenstar and the Dynamo recognized top companies from the Houston Green Office Challenge. The three top companies included: Harris County (Michael To), Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (Jon Maxwell & Jefferson Powell) and Apollo BBC (Tim Murray). Houston Mayor, Annise Parker and Houston Sustainability Director, Laura Spanjian were both on the field to congratulate the Green Office Challenge companies.
Greenstar Recycling & Keep Houston Beautiful Improve the City with
Significant Cleanup in Acres Homes

Greenstar Recycling joined Keep Houston Beautiful for its annual clean up day. Greenstar and new partner, the Houston Dynamo helped clean and landscape a neglected area in Acres Homes, just north of downtown. All recyclable materials from the clean up were placed in Greenstar's purple bins to be recycled.
"We are proud to support the beautification of Houston," said Matt Delnick, Greenstar CEO. "Our Greenstar volunteers worked alongside 100-150 other members of the local community to clean up an area that was used as an illegal dumping ground in the past. We're working together to transform this polluted ditch into a place of pride for local residents."

Greenstar Recycling and the Houston Dynamo kicked off their partnership March 19, 2011 as the Dynamo hosted the Philadelphia Union at Robertson Stadium. Over 19,000 fans took part in the festivities, including the pregame Greenstar Soccer Fest. Greenstar led the way, promoting single stream recycling and sustainability through an educational center and recycling station. Purple Greenstar bins were strategically placed throughout the venue, allowing fans to recycle with ease.
Dynamo Stadium Ground Breaking

Greenstar Recycling was present today as the Houston Dynamo broke ground on their 22,000-seat soccer stadium in downtown Houston's East End. In addition to being the official recycling partner of the Houston Dynamo, Greenstar has also been named the first founding partner of the new facility. In order to christen the stadium site, Dynamo all-time leading scorer Brian Ching kicked a ceremonial first goal on the stadium site.
"I truly believe that this will be one of the finest soccer-specific stadiums in North America. Its location cannot be matched, and the design will provide for an authentic international soccer environment. It has been designed with the thought of our fans in mind, and there are many different elements that will offer an incredible experience for everyone," stated Dynamo President, Chris Canetti.

Greenstar Recycling announced today that it will be the new official jersey sponsor of MLS club, Houston Dynamo. The agreement includes exclusive jersey naming rights, the first founding partnership in the new Dynamo stadium, and designation as the official recycling partner of the Dynamo. The Greenstar Recycling logo will be featured on Dynamo game jerseys and all team apparel, beginning in the 2011 season and carrying as far as 2015, with options for the final two years.
"Greenstar has partnered with the Dynamo to give recycling a new kick in Houston and highlight the importance of recycling in creating a sustainable environment for us all," Greenstar CEO Matt Delnick said. "We are thrilled to be the official jersey partner of the Dynamo and are committed to making the Dynamo the greenest team in the league."
