Transportation Coordinator – Houston, TX

Reporting to the Administrative Manager, Transportation Coordinators at Greenstar develop, train and motivate Transportation Department members to ensure that quality resources are available to provide superior transportation services to new and existing client accounts while maximizing optimum efficiency.

This position is located at our Houston, Texas facility.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing superior client service and engaging and motivating clients with integrity
  • Working closely with the Plant Manager to schedule and coordinate routes for drivers in the market area; making recommendations for route changes and/or consolidation in order to achieve optimum route efficiency while controlling costs
  • Determining route efficiency, reasonable route time requirements and stop sequences for all same-day and next-day routes
  • Establishing and adjusting work procedures and processes to meet service schedules; analyzing and resolving and/or assisting workers in solving work problems as they relate to the Transportation Department
  • Interpreting company policies for drivers and enforcing safety regulations; conducting weekly safety meetings with drivers
  • Scheduling Paid Time Off and relief coverage for the Transportation Department; developing a cross-training program for drivers to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Scheduling truck maintenance and safety inspections; procuring required certificates of title, registrations, state inspections and insurance certifications for vehicles
  • Entering data, record keeping and reporting of all statistics, expenses, and other related information relevant to the Transportation Department

Qualifications of the Position Include:

  • 3-5 years experience in coordinating transportation pickup and delivery routes
  • Highly developed customer service skills with a proven ability to develop strong client relationships, both internally and externally
  • Leadership experience in the transportation industry preferred; experience in all aspects of employee engagement required
  • Experience working with GPS tracking software, route manipulation and driver organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills effective at all levels; expertise in Microsoft Outlook and the Microsoft Office components Word and Excel
  • Solid working knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle inspection requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and demands; highly organized, with a stringent attention to detail; motivated, independent self-starter with results and solution orientation
  • Must have exceptional people skills and be able to supervise and coach a team  to meet performance standard
